    Specialist - Small Animal Surgery (Soft Tissue)

    After graduating from the University of Cambridge Veterinary School, John worked for six years in small animal practice before returning to Cambridge University as University Assistant Surgeon. He then moved to Liverpool University as Lecturer in Small Animal Surgery and held the position of Head of the Division of Small Animal Studies. John became a Fellow of the RCVS in 1993 and Diplomate of the ECVS in 1997.

    From 1999, John worked in private practice in Cheshire. The following year he was awarded the BSAVA Simon award for contributions to Small Animal Surgery.

    John is former Chair of BSAVA’s Congress Committee and Chief Examiner for the RCVS Diploma in Surgery. In 2012 he was appointed Honorary Professor at the University of Liverpool.

    John has a keen interest in all aspects of soft tissue surgery, particularly:
    emergency surgery,
    damage control surgery,
    portosystemic shunts
    minimally invasive surgery.

    John is active on the CPD lecture circuit, regularly speaking in the UK, Europe and the USA. John has authored chapters and edited manuals for BSAVA and most recently contributed and co-edited the second edition of the BSAVA Manual of Canine and Feline Abdominal Surgery.

    Alison Moores, BVSc, CertSAS, DipECVS, MRCVS

    Alison graduated from the University of Bristol in 1996. She spent four years in first opinion practice. She completed an Internship in 2000 and a three year Residency in Small Animal Surgery in 2004, both at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC). She was a Lecturer in Surgery at the RVC until 2007. She worked in private referral practice for 6 months before joining Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists, a large multi-disciplinary referral practice in Hampshire, in 2008. She works as a specialist soft tissue surgeon, offering secondary and tertiary referrals in all disciplines of soft tissue surgery. Alison became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2005, with reaccreditation in 2010 and 2015, and she is an RCVS Recognised Specialist in Small Animal Surgery. Alison is actively involved in veterinary postgraduate, teaching to certificate level and examining several of the certificate qualifications available in the UK.
